The The Zine Volume 4 Issue 1

We are very excited to bring you a variety of stories written by students in the Harding Comic Club. I want to bring special note to the first few pages featuring work by some of the most talented cartoonists to ever go to Harding High school.

On page 1 is a great piece by Lu² a senior who had very strong story telling skills as a freshman. She has continued to solidify a clean visual style and improve her storytelling as you can see in her piece “Zombie Romance”. Her sharp dry wit really shows in this quick little story and it is a joy to read.

This is followed by a piece by Moo² another senior at Harding who’s autobiographical work in Jr. high blew me away with its confident style and harsh critique of sibling relationships. Her morose sense of humor seems to have taken on a lonely tone as of late and I wonder if it’s a symptom of her older sibling’s decision to study abroad.

There are a couple of firsts that you should definitely check out like the boom piece (page 3), Sin (page 4), and Dragon’s Dream (page 12). While these artists continue to struggle with initial production issues they are highly motivated and prolific. Each of these artists is sitting on several stories 4-12 pages in length involving ornate social plot lines. They are highly invested in their characters and seem dedicated to producing work in a serial format. So go ahead and get to know their stories because I can guarantee
you will be seeing more of these characters.

Page 17 features a short treat for the fans of Zine³ with a one pager by Kelsey about the trials of life after high school.

Also take some time to check out our back cover with a small piece by Charles. We look forward to seeing some more work coming from this talented artist/story teller (& game designer!?!).
