The The Zine Volume 5 Issue 8
Dear Reader,
I am excited to inform you that you have been given the chance to read a copy of The The Zine. There are a few things you should be aware of before you undertake this task.
First we have some talented creators, please divert your attention to their work. Star has undertaken the reworking of a previous comic that has not been published. The new title for this is Skin Deep. If you have read the previously mentioned original work you should still take the time to read through the new version. It is also advisable that you take some time to peruse the front and back covers, which she also created.
Charles McGregor has provided several pages of his story Tribal for you to enjoy. Dedicated readers of The The Zine will be familiar with this action tale, but newer readers should still find joy in the work. Read more…

The The Zine Volume 5 Issue 7
Another great issue with two excellent covers by Crayon. The front one is in color if you have a chance you should check it out online in all of it colorful glory.
A.I. leads the issue with the next part of Thicker Than Water as Ne’s family enters into lively dinner conversation as they try to tease out what happened to him.
Then ZeZee has an untitled poem accompanied by an untitled illustration. There is a lot of work in this issue by ZeZee. So much that it should be called the ZeZee issue. She also has a short comic Asylum Nightmares and the continuation of her story Revenge Taken In Blood. They are all great and I encourage you to spend some time with the work of this prolific creator. Read more…

The The Zine Volume 5 Issue 6
It appears the creative push is coming on strong in the last 3rd of this year. We have some amazing work to show you including three powerhouse comic making talents and three great writers with epic works.
The second chapter of Tang’s Not My Prince is here. I told you in the last issue how smooth her work reads and how clean and professional it looks. Here she digs a little deeper into her plot reflecting our unspoken rules concerning the relationships between boys and girls and a little modern day exploration of the concept of slavery.
Robbert Griffen and Hanna Moreno team up for a short commentary on NASCAR racing.
A.I. is returning with a new story Thicker Than Water continuing to explore her love of classic narratives and character driven stories. What happens when a royal family is torn apart by greed and a thirst for power. Read more…

The The Zine Volume 5 Issue 5
This is a very exciting issue of The The Zine and I will tell you all about it, but first I want to address an issue that has been heavy on the minds of Comic Club participants.
There seems to be a feeling that the club has failed this year. There is a concern that when compared to last year we are not as good as we used to be.
I don’t believe this. Comic Club has always been a struggle. Any creative endeavor is a struggle, but you do it because you love it. It gets into your blood and if you don’t pick up a brush, or a pen, you feel like you want to die. You want to make something and you want to communicate with other people. You want to leave a mark that says “I was here”.
I curated a museum art show about successful comic book artists in the state of Minnesota. Most of these artists make around $12,000 a year from their work. Read more…

The The Zine Volume 5 Issue 4
We have a big issue with lots of comics, art, great stories and only one page to introduce it so lets get started!
The beautiful cover by Shadow marks a change in style for his work. It seems more confident and less heavily rendered. Time will tell if he chooses to keep with this new approach, but I for one like where he’s going.
Matabo created a gruesome back cover for us and also what looks like some Jhonen Vasquez fan art (page 4). I hope to see more of his original work in the future, but this will tide me over till then.
Star is all over this issue starting with several animal pictures (page 21, 22, 24); a new comic (page 26-29); and some illustrations for Larka’s story (page 41, 43). Where does she find the time to make all this great work and still get her homework done? Star, you are getting your homework done, right? STAR!!! Read more…
