Recipies For Inspiration

Lots of people are having problems with inspiration. Here are some ideas I came up with. Does anyone else have ideas? If you don't just make something up. The more preposterous the better.

    Recipe 1: Inspiration from nature.
Art is about communication, but the first step in the production of art is observation.
Step 1. Go outside (bring your sketch book your going to need it) (don't have a sketch book grab some paper out of the printer) (don't have paper go buy some...NOW!)
Step 2. Start drawing things you see that interest you. Take notes. If you feel the need to write write. Observe the world around you.
Step 3. If nothing comes sit somewhere comfortable where you wont have to move for an hour. Now listen and list every thing you hear until you have cataloged every sound around you. Include descriptions and interpretations of what these sounds are, what they might mean, and what you imagine they could mean. There are no rules so the more fantastic the better.
Step 4. Now catalogue the things you smell.
Step 5. If there is still nothing that grabs your attention start listing all the things you feel. don't forget to list the feel of your shirt collar on your neck. The feel of the ground on your butt ect. You don't have to show this to anyone so you can describe gross things like "I feel a vibrating fart!..."
Step 6. Still nothing! Man you are in a tough spot! Ok now you may fill the rest of your sketchbook with all of the things you see around you. This could take several weeks so make sure you take breaks to stretch your legs and drink water and eat something.

    Recipe 2: Lost Love
Step 1. ruminate on a lost friend, family member, or love interest. (If you don't have one count yourself lucky, but remember eventually you too will have to have your heart broken).
Step 2. Cry your eyes out. (trust me it will make you feel better) (if you can't cry then skip step 2)
Step 3. Start writing about the relationship.
Step 4. Write about all of the lost expectations. What were the things you wanted to do with this person that you never did.
Step 5. Write about all of the things in the relationship that you don't dare write about except do it through metaphors. Think of it as a code. If the relationship was a vehicle what kind of vehicle would it be?

Undesirable Relationships. (this is a joke) (not suggested) (don't do this) (I'm warning you!) (BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD!)
Step 1. Find someone to fall in love with (preferably someone who will like you a little, but you don't really have a chance with)
Step 2. Go on dates, hang out, talk on the phone so you fall in love. (don't do anything permanent like catch a kissing disease, get pregnant, get someone else pregnant, or donate your kidneys)
Step 3. Do something terrible and unforgivable to sabotage the relationship so that they dump you. For most people this comes naturally and will require little effort. Sometimes it can be as simple as a well placed fart.
Step 4. Get Emo! Ball your eyes out and sulk as much as possible.
Step 5. Get Envelope! Write letters to person and then don't send them. (put them in a box so you can read them later)
Step 6. Get Elmo! Find someone who gives you comfort and talk to them about things. If there is no one there talk to a pet, a stuffed animal, or the closest convenient inanimate object you can relate to (tree, plant, rock).
Step 7. Now you have lots of stuff to write about.
Step 8. Integrate the experience into an existing story you have already started working on.

um... (i didn't really read any of what Andy listed but... um...) For me, all I do is read other manga, watch movies, etc. and try to imagine myself in it or imagine myself doing the story and wondering "what will happen next?" and then a totally new idea just pops up.
So I guess you can say... I do LOTS of parody of things, or something like that? (For me that works out better)

    Ahh...
Hey Andy are you sure you're okay?...
...well at least the last one's a joke...
I would've called for a mental doctor in a split second if you really meant it.

I think looking at fan stuffs are inspirations too. I found some about that Okami game I have and I got hooked now. Just need to get my energy up to draw my own...

Randomly and personally, heat wears me down easily. It makes me work slow...
I guess I can work faster if I'm cool down. But that's just an assumtion.

I've already done some of these things suggested... Even some of that last one, except getting too emo or even getting an ELMO! What's up with that?  He's red and fuzzy, but wow...

My inspirations come from my imagination and mind... OK, maybe some come from personal experiences, too...  And I don't think I've ever gone outside and just drew something that interested me...  When was the last time I did?  HEY!  Am I the only one posting stuff recently?!  :o
