    =====Disclaimer=====
I am not the best at proportions and this was made in about 30 mins

    Body Proportions - Torso

    Arms
When you look at the arms of Fig A they seem awkwardly on the body it looks like ones bigger than the other and the right arm is sticking out of the the body.

The arms on Fig B look whole lot better. They are comfortably on the body and seem about the same size. Thats because the right arm is hidden behind his chest and his left arm is apart of his body not just pasted on.

    Back
Normaly you would think that you can't see the back of the man, so you don't include a back. He looks like he is made of paper (unless your going for that look, its a bad thing). It feels like a weird shape to the body and make every thing else look pasted on.

Unless your looking at the man straight on, you'll see some form of a back, Fig B shows this with the arms being in front of where the back is show more depth and making thinks seem like one thing.

    Clothes
The sweater on Fig A looks like the sweater is facing us but the body isn't, it looks strange.

Fig B on the other hand looks like it is following the body of the man.

    Shading
I tried to shade Fig A but it looked awful it was so strange to shade it in with shadows so I just did very basic shading. On Fig B it was easy and simple, period.

I hope this help you with your question maybe it cleared up some other things too.

yeah, an easy trick to make your pictures look like it either has volume or that it looks 3-D, would basically be shading it in as Charles did with his pictures.

My suggestion: Ask Kage. She'll have the answer to this one.

My other suggestion: You're art is freaking amazing already. You don't need our help. x3

My last one: Study a real person. Watch how your own body flexes and moves and how you can bend. That's how I learned. After all, the best teacher is you yourself.

I don't know many sites, but if you are looking for some good primers on anatomical drawing for comics, manga, and cartooning you can check these out:

1st: Human Anaomy Made Aqmazingly Easy, by Christopher Hart ISBN: 0823024970.
This is a really great book to get started with good pictures and quick efficient explanations of basic anatomical principles for artists.

2nd: Cartooning The Head and Figure, by Jack Hamm ISBN: 0399508031.
This is a classic of western cartooning style. This is the book where a lot of newspaper cartoonists got their start. It's mostly about cartooning, but there are some good sections on anatomy and it gives you a good perspective on how anatomy is not the most important part of drawing good cartoons.

3rd: The Artist's Complete Guide to Facial Expression, by Gary Faigin ISBN:0823016285.
This is college level stuff and starts getting into observation of human interaction. It is a very technical book about one of the most complicated anatomical challenges to the artist (the face).

I did some searching and found some blogs with nice discussions of anatomy:

    http://comictool.blogspot.com/2009/05/this-week-neck-muscles-and-also-hand.html

    I hope that helps.
